Mrs. Norby said you explained the difference between the evaluation and the synthesis for our argument essay and I paid attention the whole time but I am still very confused about what to do for either of them and so is everyone else I have asked. Norby told us to ask you if we had any questions.

She told us that for the synthesis, we have to create a cover page for each one of our sources but I’m not exactly sure how to format it. How do we format the cover pages and do we only answer the questions under the “quality and reliability heading” on the “Evaluating Information sources” paper?

And for the main evaluation, what questions do we answer? I thought we had to answer all the questions on the “Evaluating Information sources” paper but I was told I was doing it wrong when I did that.

I’m very sorry for this. I paid attention the whole time and took notes but I’m still very confused. I would be very grateful for any help.

Synthesis a cover page written as a third person narrative begins with (from the worksheet):
Quantity as a bolded header, and a paragraph discussing your totals how many resource did you find how you narrowed your search.
Diversity – bolded, continue discussing publication types, including publisher were they all from the same place or did you find other publishers. How did you arrive? What search terms helped you get there… describe what you used terms, databases, limiters etc.
Date of publication- bolded, self explanatory use the worksheet.

The evaluation part is also from the worksheet and should continue your third person narrative and focus on:
Quality and Reliability bolded, evaluate the resources you selected for the tone, audience, publication, etc again keep it as a third person narrative and your are done.

Are we able to access the catalog outside of school? I have tried on three different browsers for the past two days on my computer at home without any success but I’ve seen people at school on it. I also know another person whose had the same problem

Any help would be appreciated If worst comes to worst, I’ll just do it at school.

Unfortunately, the answer is no you are not able to access the library catalog from home it is the only feature on the Library’s home page that is block by the school district. You will have to use a school computer to access the catalog.
