The Tenth National Co-Op Scholarship (National)

Sponsor: National Security Technologies, LLC (NSTec)
Amount: Up to 10-$5,000 each may be awarded.
Eligibility: Seniors who plan to major in engineering and science at a four-year institution, the degree program you intend to pursue must be Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Civil or Environmental Engineering, Computer and Computational Sciences, Electrical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Geosciences, materials Science and Engineering, Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, Physics and Health Physics. Hair Designer Scholarship

Sponsor: Academy of Hair Design
Amount: $2,530.00
Eligibility: High school seniors are eligible to apply for the Academy of Hair Design High School Scholarship programs. The program is scholarshipped for Hair Design. The deadline to apply is September 1, 2012. The scholarships are available to high school graduates with a diploma. Start dates for the scholarship programs are in the months of June, July, August, and September of the diploma and graduating year. For more information visit

Public Education Foundation Scholarships

The Public Education Foundation administers a variety of scholarships to help students pursue higher educational goals. In many cases, the scholarships make college and university experience accessible to students who might not otherwise dream of a college education. The Public Education Foundation offers more than 120 different scholarship opportunities for Southern Nevada’s high school seniors to attend both in-state and out-of-state schools.

Attention Juniors: Nevada Boys State

Attention Juniors: Nevada Boys State (NBS) is a seven-day hands on leadership experience. The program draws together the best and brightest high school juniors from the state of Nevada. Nevada Boys State will be held in June, 2012. Requirements:

  1. 1. Only males who have successfully completed their junior year of high school and have at least one semester of high school remaining are considered.
  2. 2. Only boys with outstanding qualities of leadership, character, scholarship, loyalty and service to their schools are considered.

Applications are available from Nov 15, 2011 – March 3, 2012. Applications can are on the Nevada Boys State website, www.NevadaBoys state.org (there are no paper applications). Please see Mrs. Marshall in the counseling office if you are interested.

The Philippine Bisayan Society Of Nevada Scholarship Application

Attention Seniors: The Philippine Bisayan Society Of Nevada Scholarship Application is now available. Eligibility requirements: Must have one parent of Philippine ancestry, active in school and community activities, have a gpa of at least a 3.0, show financial need. Jeans For Teens – Donate your Gently Used Jeans

Global Studies in conjunction with NHS will be participating in DoSomethingGood.org’s Jeans for Teens. This program collects gently used jeans to distribute to homeless teens. All sizes are welcome but please no rips or holes. There will be boxes located in all English classes and the SAC for drop off. This program will run from 1/27-2/10. If you need more information, please see flyers posted around the school or Ms. Woods in rm. 623. Let’s all Do Something Good!

With a Little Help From My Friends Scholarship

Attention Seniors: A brand new scholarship has been established just for A-TECH students. The Scholarship is “With a Little Help From My Friends” and it was established by two A-TECH graduates, Ashley and Christian Seda. In order to apply, you must be a senior with a GPA of at least a 3.5, plan to attend UNLV in the fall and participate in community service. The scholarship application is available on the Clark County Public Education Foundation website: thepef.org. Please see Mrs. Marshall in the counseling office if you have any questions about this scholarship.

Congratulations to all Rotary Club Speech Contestants

CONGRATULATIONS to all contestants in the school level Rotary Club Speech Contest! Jarrett Greig, Zamaria Jones, Joelle Juarez, Gabby Kanter, Jacob Perez, Timothy Ponciano, Pavel Sorkin, and Isabela Vargas presented their speeches in a school level contest on Thursday, January 26th.

Special Congratulations go to Gabby Kanter and Timothy Ponciano, who were selected to represent A-TECH at the Club Level Rotary Speech Contest Competition, which will take place on February 23rd. Great job, Gabby and Timothy and GOOD LUCK at the next competition!

A-TECH Student Athletes

Attention A-TECH Athletes: If you are participating in athletics on another campus, there is a Sports Participation form that needs to be filled out and filed with Student Services (The Dean’s Office). This is the end of the Winter season. If you are playing a Spring sport, baseball, softball, golf, boys’ volleyball, swimming, or track & field, please come to student services and complete the form.
