Black History Month… Did You Know….

DID YOU KNOW…Ann Lowe was the nation’s first widely recognized African-American fashion designer, most known for designing Jackie Kennedy’s wedding dress in 1953. The dress now rests in Boston’s John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum and some of Lowe’s work is also being displayed at the recently opened Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture.


Bible Club

Bible Club at A-TECH is meeting this Wednesday after school in room 800. All are welcome to join us! This is a non-district sponsored club.

CONGRATULATIONS to A-TECH’s Mock Trial Team, which did an amazing job at the Southern Nevada Regional Mock Trial Competition!


Out of 17 teams, A-TECH Purple Team qualified to compete at the State Competition in Reno on March 3-4, 2017!


49th Dr. Bessie F. Lawrence International Summer Science Institute

Applications are now being accepted for the 49th Dr. Bessie F. Lawrence International Summer Science Institute to be held at the Weizmann Institute of Science in Rehovot, Israel, 7/2-30/17. Each participant attending this program will receive a full scholarship valued at $6,000, which covers airfare and all costs while at the Institute. Deadline 3/1/17

College Night

Advanced Technologies Academy invites 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students and their parents to attend their annual college readiness presentation on Thursday, February 23, 2017 from 3:00-4:30pm in the Lecture Hall. During this informational night counselors will be presenting pertinent information related to the college planning process. Additionally, college admissions officers will be on-site and available after the presentation to provide information and answer questions about Nevada colleges. Students and parents are encouraged to attend this informational event.


ACT exam here at A-TECH – Juniors

Attention Juniors. On Tuesday, February 28th, you will be taking the ACT exam here at A-TECH, free of charge. If you are interested in a free practice test booklet, please go to the counseling office.


Las Vegas Asian Chamber of Commerce Scholarship

Las Vegas Asian Chamber of Commerce is currently accepting scholarship applications. To be eligible, a senior must be of Asian Ethnicity and enrolled to attend college Fall of 2017. Applications will be accepted until 2/27/17.

Black History Month at A-TECH

Black History month is in full affect and here at A-TECH don’t want to forget those in History that has accomplished goals and deserve to be recognized through their achievements. DID YOU KNOW Jack Johnson became the first African-American man to hold the World Heavyweight Champion boxing title in 1908. He held on to the belt until 1915.


Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. Scholarship

Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. is currently accepting scholarship applications. To be eligible, a senior must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or better. Applications will be accepted until 4/15/17.
