American Legion Auxiliary National President’s Scholarship (National)

Amount: 15; 3 in each division, 1 – $2,500, 1 – $2,000, 1 – $1,500
Eligibility: Senior. Daughter or son of veteran who served in the Armed Forces during eligibility dates for membership in The American Legion (eligibility dates listed on application). Must complete 50 hours of volunteer service within the community, verified in writing. Four letters of recommendation. Transcript. SAT/ACT test scores. Typed essay double-spaced of no more than 1,000 words titled “Proud to be an American-Keeping the Wave of Patriotism Strong.” Brief statement of the military service of parent(s), including the branch of service and dates of service, or photocopy of discharge papers. Davidson Fellows Award (National)
Sponsor: The Davidson Institute for Talent Development
Amount: Possible awards of: $10,000, $25,000 or $50,000
Eligibility: Must be under the age of 18 on October 1, 2010. This award is designed to recognize prodigious achievement and is not a competition. Davidson Fellows Award is to recognize outstanding achievements of young people who can demonstrate the development of their talents with a significant piece of work. Areas of recognition are: science, technology, mathematics, the humanities and to individuals who have “Out of the Box” ideas. Each submission must be a piece of original work recognized by experts in the field as “significant” and it must have the potential to make a positive contribution to society. Powerful Partnership Scholarship
Sponsor: NV Energy
Amount: 2 – $1,000 to each school in Clark County with graduating seniors. One scholarship to a home-schooled graduating senior.
Eligibility: Senior planning to attend an accredited post-secondary institution which includes colleges, universities and trade schools. Must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and be involved in community service and volunteerism. Children or grandchildren of employees or officers of NV energy may not apply. Palms Casino Resort Scholarship Awards

Amount: 2 – $5,000 ($1,250.00 renewable per year)
Eligibility: Recipients must attend either UNLV or UNR. Student must be nominated by high school counselor or principal, participate in two (2) activities (preferably athletics-related), maintain high grade point average. Complete Palms Scholarship Application and include transcript, personal resume, and letters of recommendation. Finalist must appear before scholarship selection committee.

Eligibility: Senior, with a 2.5 GPA during junior and senior years, must be recommended by principal, counselor or the scholarship committee/coordinator of the high school. Eligibility: Nevada resident attending his or her senior year of high school with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0. Parent or legal guardian must be currently employed full-time by-or if retired or deceased, must have been employed full time by a government entity. International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers #357 Scholarship (Local)

Eligibility: Senior. A statement of request for the $3,000.00 grant to be used at a particular college, university, vocational school, or post secondary institution. Must be a son, daughter, grandson or granddaughter of a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local Union 357. All applicants must prepare a scholarship application folder. Picture of yourself on cover page. List school achievements, awards, community service projects, and other vital data important to the review committee. Transcript. SAT/ACT test scores. Eligibility: High School Juniors. With recipients selected and scholarships awarded later in their senior year. Complete the online application. Proof of legal blindness. Proof of U.S. citizenship or legal residency. Documentation of academic achievement. Three letters of recommendation. Two personal statements: one about the applicant and the second describing the influence of an outstanding teacher on your education. Your chosen college must be accredited by a body recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.
