Eligibility: Enrolling for the first time at a Truckee Meadows Community College or University of Nevada Reno as a full time student (12 or more credits per semester, in the fall of 2010) pursuing a career in Business, Information Technology, human Resources, Finance and Accounting. ExxonMobil Bernard Harris Math and Science Scholarships

Eligibility: Evidence of applicant’s academic achievement in High school, leadership skills or community service in the area of Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics and the applicant’s commitment to pursue a career in a STEM field. Minimum 3.0 unweighted GPA and have been accepted as a full-time student at a four-year institution of higher education. Jean Nidetch Women’s Center Scholarship (UNLV)
Sponsor: UNLV Jean Nidetch Women’s Center
Amount: Up to $2,500
Eligibility: Applicants must be entering freshman at UNLV for the fall of 2009. Minimum GPA of 3.0. Demonstrate financial need per the office of Student Financial Services. Enroll in a minimum of 12 undergraduate credits during the semester of the award. Submit one letter of recommendation and support of their need and adversity from a professional person such as a high school principal, counselor or teacher. Silver State Matching Grant Program
Sponsor: State Treasurer
Amount: $300 per calendar year with a lifetime maximum of $1,500
Eligibility: The Silver State Matching Grant allows qualifying Nevada families, who are Upromise College Fund 529 Plan account owners, to be considered for a matching grant. The beneficiary must be 13 years of age or young at the time the first matching grant is approved. Both the account owner and the beneficiary must be Nevada residents. The applicant’s household adjusted gross income (AGI) in the previous year must have been $61,950 or less.

The Guild Scholar Scholarship Program for Visually Impaired (National)
Sponsor: The Jewish Guild for the Blind
Amount: 12-15 – $15,000
Eligibility: High School Juniors. With recipients selected and scholarships awarded later in their senior year. Complete the online application. Proof of legal blindness. Proof of U.S. citizenship or legal residency. Documentation of academic achievement. Three letters of recommendation. Two personal statements: one about the applicant and the second describing the influence of an outstanding teacher on your education. Your chosen college must be accredited by a body recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.
