Advanced Technologies Academy Web Publishing Guidelines For Staff and Students Students, faculty and staff at Advanced Technologies Academy (A-TECH) are allowed to publish classroom home pages on the A-TECH Web Server. In exchange for this privilege all patrons must abide by A-TECH web policy and guidelines outlined below. The Web publishing guidelines at A-TECH have been developed to encourage use with minimal restrictions on students, faculty and staff. The guidelines primarily regard legal and public relations issues and are designed to protect both A-TECH and the author. Acceptable Use The attitude of A-TECH's Web policy is one of tolerance. However, certain things are unacceptable. For example, users cannot denigrate other persons or companies, start or advertise a business, use A-TECH Web space for personal gain, display inappropriate graphics or text or violate copyright laws. Links and Linking Each page will have sufficient links to and from all preceding and following pages. Each page will have a link to the Clark County School District's Home Page. All links must be verified. Links directing the browser to inappropriate sites will be deleted. Verification of active content is also required. Links which lead browsers to inactive sites must also be removed. To demonstrate originality, all pages must have a creation date, edited by, and copyright statement. Copyrights Copyright laws do not allow re-publishing of text or graphics found on the Web on the A-TECH Web site or file servers without explicit written permission. Permission must be obtained in writing for graphics, information and photographs if they are not the author's own work. Authors must provide authorization using the attached form. For each re-publishing of a copyrighted graphic or a text file obtained or produced externally, there must be a notice at the bottom of the page crediting the original producer. A comment tag in the source code must be included noting how and when permission was granted and include the URL (Web address) of the original source. Students and staff engaged in producing Web pages must submit pages to: the Web Master who then submits them to the Supervising Administrator for initial approval before the Web pages are actually published. In the case of "public domain" documents, printed evidence must be provided to document the status of the materials. The failure of a site to display a copyright notice may not be interpreted as permission to copy the materials. Only the copyright owner may provide the permission. If the materials have been improperly and illegally displayed by a Web site, the manager of that Web site may not be considered a source of permission.
